Take a look at the meetings below before deciding where to enjoy a fantastic day of racing action this Christmas…
32Red Winter Festival
The two-day meeting at Kempton Park is a treat for racing fans with 12 high-quality jump races. The three Grade 1 races include the Christmas Hurdle, the Kauto Star Novices’ Chase and the eagerly anticipated 32Red King George VI Chase.
Won last year by the Colin Tizzard-trained Thistlecrack, the 32Red King George VI Chase is steeped in history and has an impressive list of previous winners including the likes of Arkle, Desert Orchid and five-time champion Kauto Star.
This year’s renewal is set to feature Betfair Chase winner Bristol De Mai, who is looking to secure the second leg of The Jockey Club’s Triple Crown, as well as the likes of Might Bite and Djakadam.
Coral Welsh Grand National
The biggest race meeting of the year at Chepstow, and the perfect venue for a great festive day out with the family. The richest race in Wales was won last year by Native River, who then went on to finish third in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
The card also includes the Coral Finale Juvenile Hurdle, which was won in 2016 by Defi du Seuil who also enjoyed success at The Festival by winning the Triumph Hurdle.
Amongst the antepost favourites for the main event are the likes of Beware The Bear and American, whilst the Philip Hobbs-trained Rock The Kasbah looks the perfect fit given his form figures of 22111 at the Welsh venue.
New Year’s Day at Cheltenham
Celebrate the new year in style with this hugely popular bank holiday meeting. With The Festival edging ever closer, there are two Grade 2 races to enjoy in the form of the BetBright Dipper Novices’ Steeple Chase and the Dornan Engineering Relkeel Hurdle Race.
A true family event, there will be live music throughout the arenas during the day, as well as the ROA Family Fun Zone where there will be a whole host of activities and entertainment taking place.
Elsewhere this Christmas…
There are many more meetings to choose from over the next couple of weeks and many of our racecourse partners provide some exciting options. Market Rasen, Huntingdon and Wincanton are all set to have quality cards on Boxing Day, whilst the 29th December at Doncaster is always a great treat between Christmas and new year.
Don’t forget that as well as the Jockey Club racecourses and York Racecourse, there are now 15 ARC courses to choose from when selecting your next race day, meaning that there is even more choice than ever before this festive season!
