The latest news from The British Racing Club

The British Racing Club are racing partners of Rewards4Racing. They currently have 9 horses in training across the country, 4 on the flat and 5 over the jumps. This is a fantastic opportunity to experience the thrill of racehorse ownership for just £25 a month.

There are regular yard visits to see your horses working at home, opportunities to go racing when you have a runner, access to the paddock and Owners and Trainers area on course. A regular newsletter keeps you up to date with how the horses are working and when they are running. If you can't make the races, video diaries of the conversation with the trainer and jocket before and after the race keep you in the know as to how your horse has run so you can feel involved even if you can't make the races on the day.

Better still when you sign up with The British Racing Club, you collect £25 in points, so essentially your first month is FREE! More information about the horses can be found below.

FLAT

Cardaw Lily

Pedigree Lawman - Chervil (Dansili)   Trainer Richard Hughes   Age 2Cardaw Lily has been out for 2 months with a nasty wound to one of her front legs, before this incident she was very green but had showed plenty of potential on both of her starts. Richard is particularly keen to have her back in his care after a month or so away. The sky could be the limit for her! (She was picked out as a horse to follow in the Racing Post after her first run).

Hope And Glory

Pedigree Dandy Man- Tashyra (Tagula)   Trainer Tom Dascombe   Age 2This little filly by Dandy Man is a very athletic sort who shows plenty at home, unfortunately she was unable to win a maiden, and is now going the nursery route. Her first outing was last Saturday at Lingfield where she ran brilliantly to finish 3rd, close enough to a useful horse of William Haggas. She will probably head back to Lingfield on August 12th now that we know she handles the track.

UNRACED EXCITING PROSPECT

Halcyon

Pedigree Rip van Winkle-Marliana (Mahalia)   Trainer Ed Vaughan   Age 2This bay Filly is by Rip Van Winkle out of Marliana, a lovely, slightly backward, 2 year old is going into training with Ed Vaughan in Newmarket, Ed has trained a couple of other progeny of Marliana and it is hoped he will be able to get the best out of her. Her Sire Rip Van Winkle excelled in Ireland for Aiden O' Brian, racing mainly at a mile and winning over £1.2 in prize money. She will be making her racecourse debut in the next few months!

Spare Parts

Pedigree Choisir - Grandel (Owington)   Trainer Charlie Hills   Age 3A 3 year old Bay Gelding did not run as a 2yo. Gelded and with a handicap mark to his name he is a big horse that is taking a long time to learn his racing trade! His sire was of a similar sort, and we fully expect Spare Parts to improve with age. Having run over 6f initially he seems comfortable now over 7f. Beaten a short head at Ffos Las last week and then, as it turned out, ran again too quickly 72 hours later, he will now have a few easy weeks.

NATIONAL HUNT

Demographic

Pedigree Aptitude - Private Line (Private Account)   Trainer Emma Lavelle   Age 8Demographic has won 2 of his 6 starts for the Club. He has been a star although his confidence was knocked by a nasty fall at Huntington but he came back in style to win at Wincanton in April before going on his summer break. He has now finished his early summer holiday and has begun the 'hard work' to get back to race fitness. He looks fantastic and has obviously had a great break it is still the intention to have him back for August.

Salto Chisco

Pedigree Presenting- Dato Fairy (Accordion)   Trainer Harry Whittington   Age 9Salto Chisco is a 9yo Presenting gelding who has managed to win 2 of his 8 starts for The British Racing Club. We have learnt a lot about him this year and his favoured conditions seem to be 2 miles, good ground on a stiff track. He is currently rated 113 over fences which is just 1lb above his last winning mark and 110 over hurdles, which he is well up to winning off. He is likely to stick to hurdles for now, but can switch back to the bigger obstacles when the time is right. He will carry on racing into the autumn, before having a break when the ground becomes testing. Newton Abbot on July 31st is pencilled in for his next run.

Superior Command

Pedigree Lahib— Decent Time (Insan)   Trainer Lucinda Russell   Age 8Superior Command is an athletic well balanced winning chaser who has plenty of scope to continue to progress having been first and second in his two chase starts. By the top class miler Lahib, also the sire of Kangaroo Court, and out of an unraced Insan mare, Superior Command has good form to his name, and should make a good competitive handicapper for the club.  After a disappointing effort over fences we have reverted to hurdles, and that came off in some style at Musselburgh where he won and came 2nd in quick succession! We are hopeful to have him back fit and well after his summer break.

LATEST RECRUIT

Born Legend

Pedegree Born To Sea - Hallowed Park (Barathea)   Trainer Oliver Sherwood   Age 3Born Legend is a 3 year old Bay gelding, a £115,000 purchase as a yearling, he was in training with one of our Trainers, Charlie Hills, who pointed him out to us on the Stable Tour a few weeks ago. He is proven over a trip of 1m4f and will hopefully stay a lot further! Purchased at Tattersall's July Sales he has joined Grand National winning trainer Oliver Sherwood who has sent him off on 10 days of extensive hurdling tuition, following this he will return to Rhonehurst and begin his new training regime, he will be aimed at 2 mile Juvenile Hurdle races in August.

CONFIRMED FOR THIS SEASON

Mythical Legend

Pedigree Midnight Legend — Materiality (Karinga Bay)   Trainer Emma Lavelle   Age 6Mythical Legend unfortunately picked up a small injury last season and owing to the time of the year, it precluded her from running this season. She is now back in full training and will be making her debut run for the Club in the Autumn. She is a 5 year old mare by Midnight Legend. She is big and scopey, and has a great attitude. She had two runs in bumpers in her last season where she was green on her first run to finish fifth, before finishing runner-up on her second start, with the pair pulling well clear.
