The Two Year Old Flat Team
SPRING RUN – by Nathaniel - Trained by Jonathan Portman
Unraced, she is a good sized chestnut two year old filly with a great stride, covers the ground well and looks to have plenty of scope. Her sire is Group 1 winning Nathaniel, a son of the great Galileo. Her dam is Mayfox who produced Group 3 winner Annecdote as well as other winners. "She has presence so we hope with that comes some class but the sire’s progeny appreciate being brought on carefully and gradually. We like her very much at the stables." Jonathan Portman
FILILEO – by Galileo - Trained by Tom Dascombe
Unraced, she is doing very well in her work now and her coat has finally come along in this fantastic weather. She is cantering every day and seems to be coping with it very well - if this mental and physical improvement continues then I’m sure Tom will be wanting to give her a hand but she is really pleasing us now with her attitude.
WALTING BELLE – Trained by Charlie Fellowes
Our filly is in good form and has come out of her race at Leicester in fine nick. I would be hopeful she will be ready to run in a couple of weeks’ time. We will have one more run over 6f making her eligible for a handicap mark. Then probably step up in distance for Nursery’s.
LONDON PRIDE – Trained by Jonathan Portman
After a disappointing debut at Newbury where she showed that she was a lot greener than her trainer had realised, however she will be out again shortly, probably over 7f. Both her jockey and trainer remain extremely positive about her future.
MISS GARGAR – by Garswood - Trained by Harry Dunlop
Unraced, is fit as a flea but is still so very novicey and green, her Barrier Trial at Lingfield was satisfactory but she then collapsed mentally after the experience! "Having initially thought her a forward type I now suspect that these Garswood offspring need much more time. I will give her a racecourse gallop shortly as it will be easier for her to deal with rather than another Barrier trial. We will have on the racecourse soon but not until I am confident that she will do herself justice." Harry Dunlop
The National Hunt Team
SALTO CHISCO – Trained by Harry Whittington
Totally relaxed and happy after his double header at Bangor and Newton Abbot he is enjoying a brief break in his paddock but will be out racing again quite soon. He now has new BHA marks of 120 over fences and 110 over hurdles.
FESTIVAL DAWN – Trained by Philip Hobbs
Has returned from her summer holiday and is back in training at Sandhill Stables. With Philip Hobb’s yard struggling last year ‘under a cloud of lurgy’ we should be excited to see how she performs this season. Possibly a really serious racehorse.
MORITO DU BERLAIS – Trained by Lucinda Russell
Came back into work in mid-July, he is a handsome stamp of a horse who is potentially, although 9yo, a really interesting prospect. If he continues where he left off before his tendon injury then we will have a lot of fun, BHA rated in the late 120’s he will be campaigned over 3m plus. He will make an October seasonal debut with luck.
PEUR DE RIEN – Trained by Oliver Sherwood
Back from his summer holiday and looking a stronger horse for it. He is now back in training and preparing for his BRC debut. He struggled last year with all sorts of minor issue’s including a massive growing spurt! He is another exciting prospect for the forthcoming jumps season.
AUDORA – Trained by Anthony Honeyball
Dora is back in training after her extended summer break, she will be heading to Dorset and into Anthony Honeyball’s care shortly. It will be really exciting to see her back racing again, a year older and stronger and on better (softer) ground.
POLLYAMAROUS – Trained by Harry Whittington
Has been broken-in and is now having a break whilst she takes it all in. Harry will bring her back into the yard in a few weeks’ time when she will begin her race training proper. If she continues to be as forward and precocious then we may see her out before Christmas but otherwise she will be a new year debutant.
HEY LISTEN – Trained by Lucinda Russell
Continues in training whilst the weather remains warm, we await news from our trainer as to whether he is tried over further next time and where he will head to. It shouldn’t be long before he is back racing again.
Upcoming Stable Visits
Not only are there almost weekly opportunities to go racing as an owner with the club but there are also exclusive stable tours to all the yards that have a British Racing Club horse! These visits are informative and friendly ways to meet the trainer and their team, as well as all their horses.
